NW - Archery Tavern, near Lancaster Gate. Good curry house nearby as well.
S - The Grenadier. Wilton Row. However, that's better for a Bloody Mary as a sharpener after a heavy night before, IMHO.
- Nag's Head, Kinnerton St. Best to leave your mobile on silent, though.....!
E - The Audley on Mount Street is pretty pleasant.

Also worth a look for late meal and beer is El Pirata on Down St.
All of CFH suggestions sound good to me. Also north of Lancaster Gate, The Victoria. The Noorjahan is opposite and serves a damn fine curry!
