It's due to hit Texas, they are forecasting an incredible THIRTY FIVE inches of rain. Almost a metre. That's a metre of rain over the entire countryside. My small garden is about 30 square metres, that would be 30,000 litres of water in just my garden...
And they say it rains a lot here!
I'm due to pick up a connecting flight out of Houston, on Sunday ๐ฏ
In a queue at Austin airport right now trying to get on a flight home!

It's Obama's fault, and that other crooked bitch. Good luck folks, stay safe.
I have seen the river that acts as a storm drain by my house go up more than 30 ft overnight. It rains a lot but mostly goes away...
Anyone got any updates for Houston? Currently, my airline are saying the flight is on schedule, and the storm appears to be missing Houston, but I guess that may change over the coming hours.
Seems like Houston is having manageable rain - Space city weather
Can anybody explain, as if to an idiot child, how this 'yard of rain in sixty minutes' thing works? I can never visualise how much rain they're talking about. If it'a a 'yard of rain'.. then, in what? An empty swimming pool? A really tall test-tube?
A cylinder above the ground with a funnel at the bottom catches the water they're about 5" wide, they pour that into a measuring tube and it tells them how much fell.
That's about all I can remember as it's from about 32 year ago. ๐ณ
For a given area, it doesn't matter what area, if the rain didn't soak in/run off and just "stacked up" you'd have water to a depth of 1 yard in 60 mins. Or 0.5 yards in 30 mins etc.
Aaaaaaahh!
