Hi Folks
A little background, I spoke to my manager about bullying in the workplace around October 15, via email, we had a formal discussion but nothing changed. I once again emailed further concerns in early February, with a long detailed list, asking for it to be raised with senior managers.
Today I'm on annual leave and have had a call from a senior manager saying there is a grievance being raised against the person accused in the email, the senior manager has told me not to return to work on Monday, and I should work at a different branch 10 miles from my place of work until the matter is solved, possibly 2/3 weeks.
I said this wasn't ideal as I drop my kids off before work and to get to the other branch would take me 1 hour extra each way and I would have to shell out for around 10 extra hours of childcare per week.
Thoughts, advice, and help please.
Probably quite normal, youve made a complint about your branch manger or other staff, youll not be welcome in that branch while things are investigated, thius the transfer.
Your children have no bearing on the work grievances, theyre your problem most employers would say to stop the flood gates openin.
I've have thought a lot depends on what your contract says about place of work. It sounds like you think you have a single fixed place of work, but your contract might say you are more mobile than that...
Fixed place of work if that matters
Theyll probably say its just a temporary move, and use that as an excuse/reason.
Is it a trade warehouse /depot you work at,
Well in that case they can't just randomly move you cos they feel like it. Up to you whether you think it's best to just suck up the costs, make a nuisance of yourself by point-blank refusing to move, or try some sort of compromise like a contribution to the extra costs, or shorter working time. I reckon you're probably in the best position to judge which is the best option. If you do accept some inconvenience or cost, make sure it is strictly time-limited in case things drag on.
I would ask to be compensated. Flexible working hours and cost of commute.
"No thanks, I'll stay at home till you sort it out."
If I understand your OP then someone else has raised a grievance now as well as you?
If so, great news hopefully. Every instance I've ever seen of workplace bullying has been ignored by HR or any senior manager so at least you seem to work for an organisation which has the balls to do something about it...
If they request you move then they need to compensate for this
IMHO the compromise agreement is you are classed as working whilst you travel to work stating you cannot do this for the reasons noted and at such a short notice. Point out you dont think you should be financially disadvantaged as a result of a claim of bullying against another employee when you are one of the victims.
The pushy one is to work from home the nuclear /ape shit one is to go off with stress.
I dont think a reasonable HR dept would be unwilling to accommodate you at this time.
