That's living life to the MAX

Superb...

Mega skil required for flying a wing suit to that extreme.

I have done around 120 skydive and did a couple of wing suit sit jumps....

Then moved back to UK and ain't jump in years...

Top shout

GW that hang 5 to front flip made me say "what the ****?" out loud 😀 Crazy how much riding has progressed to bigger tricks now, when I was riding in about 2004-5 I think flairs (not the trouser variety) had just become very popular in web edits, and hardly anyone was doing front flips!

It is a hobby where you only get to make one mistake I should think. Knew a lad was into base jumping what must be nearly 20 years ago. He lost a few mates over the years I seem to remember.

Do they keep their legs apart the whole time because it helps with the aerodynamics, or just because their balls are so big?

_tom_ Yeah BMX progreses a a phenominal rate, it doesn't seem all that long ago DMC was the only one pulling flairs off consistently dressed head to toe in armour in vert comps.

MTB is miles behind BMX although this pic made me go WTF for a bit until I figured out what he'd done.
[img] [/img]wonder what goes through his mind...
"hmmm.. it's a nice sunny day think I'll get rid of my shirt, better take it easy then so I'll maybe just throw a 3 off this kicker or should I pull a backflip? hmm.. I dunno? 3 I think, yeah.. oh I CBA with this, maybe a backflip'd be more fun.. YEAH!! ooops! Now I'm facing the wrong way, s'pose I'd better finish the 3 then.. Hmmm.. SWEET!!!

Damn that takes me back, McCoy was always my favourite rider when first Mirra and then Bestwick were busting the big shit, proper hardcore oldskool, never scared to try.

Awesome. Wonder if the SAS / specials ops do this sort of thing? Gotta be a good way of sneaking behind enemy lines. Not sure I could picture Rambo doing it though. Gotta be in a future bond film though

Oh the the armed forces do this already, it's just that with 120lbs of kit the glide angle is a lot steeper...

they might be mad but they are not stupid 😉
HALO and HAHO already do the job. + adding tons of eqp might spoil the "fun" of skimming mountain tops and flying down valleys.

recently watched a couple of docs on more4, the 1st about an american wingsuit flyer/basejumper and his exploits blew me away. the footage of his mate hitting the bridge like a guided missle is just surreal and awful. the other about a basejump junkie out most nights in central london really caught my imagination though(i hate heights). a world removed from what most people would call the "extreme" sports of mtn biking snowboarding etc.

I always fancied giving hangliding/paragliding a go, now it just looks like touring on a pashley in comparison.

How do they judge the landings? Surely it'd be way to easy to keep going untill you run out of height? Anyone ever atempted to land into a car/train/truck?

Impressive. Bloke at 1:27 looks like he nearly ran out of air.

Any ideas:

1. What your rate of descent is, how do you map your descent etc?
2. How may deaths per year?

IIRC It's about 1:2.5, i.e. if you find a 2000m mountain/valley, you can fly about 5km.

thisisnotaspoon - one assumes a pull-up to convert speed to height, then a conventional parachute.
