.....sit middle of the front row at a Bob Dylan gig?

I've never seen Dylan live, and based on 2016 he might not last the year! So I'd tasked a mate (who is a massive Dylan fan) of getting us tickets to his upcoming UK tour.
He's on all sorts of pre-order lists and special fan only sites, so I figured he'd score us something good.

Just been told the damage, which is simultaneously more than I'd ever consider spending on a gig, but also feels like not a bad deal considering where we're sitting and who we're seeing.

Anyone care to hazard a guess? 😆

I hasten to add these aren't through touts (spits) but are officially sanctioned VIP tickets.

For Dylan? I'd go the full tenner for that and hope for change. 🙂

sit middle of the front row at a Bob Dylan gig?

I'd rather repeatedly slam my nuts in a kitchen drawer.

I suspect I would make similar vocal stylings during the aforementioned drawer slamming.

True, it's not my normal habit to sit at gigs. But I can't imagine a Dylan mosh pit being up to much.

If that is your sort of music pay whatever you can afford.

For me Not even a penny because that's not my kind of music.

You have to pay me a lot to be there tbh as I see it as a hassle.

However, I will pay £30 (max) to watch Carpenters or ABBA from the back row.

Zero £ - I'd rather dip my balls in nitromors.

Well, front 2 rows to see Katherine Jenkins was £150 a ticket (inc meet and greet) so I'm gonna go with £400, based on the godlike status some (not me) afford him.

I just paid £125, but might have paid double that

inc meet and greet

Was it a 'friendly' meet and greet? I've always fancied a friendly meet and greet with Katherine Jenkins and I'm not even that keen on her singing!

I'm going with £275.

My BIL is a massive fan, what he will tell you is that Dylan can be superb or total sh.te

On that basis I would not pay the face price and I love the classic Dylan era

Re the question. Face £150 you paid £500

A friend of mine ran the lighting on his tour a couple of years ago. He'll do 5 or 6 flash photos before having a spot light facing out into the crowd come on.

I shared a train ride to Seattle with a disgruntled bunch of Dylan fans when he played in Portland a few years ago. Most were demanding refunds. They said his voice was toast.

Some good guesses......convert is closest. £270 :-/

No way of telling what the 'face' value of centre front block tickets are, as they all seemed to be block booked in advance for 'VIP' packages. Front row £270, rows 2-5 £240, and further back in the front block is £215. If I'm going to pay over the odds, I might as well sit in the best seat possible!

I know he might well be shonky, and it's a fair chunk of money. But i haven't paid for a gig or festival in years (friends in useful placed and playing in a band has its uses!) So I say, bring it on Bob.

If the Bowie histrionics are anything to go by, I think I'll have to avoid all media for several months when Dylan carks it.

My parents are going to see him. Their generation and their generation's fault.

That's ok. I was however shocked at over £200 to hear Eddie Jones give an after dinner speech in the Lord's Long Room.

convert is closest

Do I win a prize - do I get to come with you (for free)?

I hope you enjoy it. Its only money and you only live once. Let's just hope his once extends to May next year!

I'm of the opinion that most of his songs are better sung by somebody else. Anybody else. If he was busking or doing open-mic in my local then I might tolerate.

This.

Even if you are a fan listen to some live recordings - his voice totally went years ago (as much as he ever had one).

Not much. I love Dylan and blood on the tracks is one of the best albums ever recorded. Live he sounds like a Muppet being tortured. Used to have a live recording of blowin' in the wind when I was in my teens. Friends and I would play it when extremely stoned. Never made it to the end due to inability to breathe through laughing.

Each to their own, but I've never wanted to see him live as I think I'd view it as a comedy show.
