[#13302942]

Just noticed ive clicked over at 2400 unopened work emails. I wonder what tedium I've missed by not reading them?

I still got paid on the 14th so one of them isn't my P45🤷‍♂️

What's everyone else's score?

Zero (well, 4 currently). The NHS has a really bad habit of sending the most innocuously looking emails that in fact contain warnings like "oh and by the way, if you don't respond to this email in the next 20 mins, we'll consider it a breach of your contract and we'll remove you from the payments scheme" but using very inclusive and non judgmental language

None, I flag them, deal with them, import them to our records management system, and delete them. I aim to have a clear inbox by the end of the day, or at least in one pane so I don't have to scroll to see them all.

I wouldn't worry about it, if it's important they'll send it again.

I'm on 688 after a purge last week, vast majority I deleted were nothing I would need to read or action anyway.

2542 in personal work inbox.

1 in my department inbox, but I just got a new one set up for a new project last week.

842 in previous project inbox, but that's someone else's problem now.

0, and 22 items in there in total.

My inbox is my to do list, so if an e-mail is in there it needs something doing with it. Once completed the e-mail gets moved to another folder.

Zero. If someone in my team had 2400 unopened emails we would be having a word.

I don't like every aspect of my job but I get paid to do it. That includes managing my inbox. So zero unread emails at end of day and inbox viewable in one pane without need to scroll.

I got a pasting from them last week for having a full inbox of unopened emails.

Zero impact on my day it's at over 100 already again also sending me "important" stuff via teams gets no response if it's soooo important try ringing me.

You wouldn't be able to schedule a meeting because they wouldn't read your emails.

I never answer the phone, it's nearly always people who want to complain that I'm not doing my job properly. If it's really important, they can come and talk to me, they know where my office is.

I'd say at least 2530 out of my 2542 unread are generic company spam, IT satisfaction surveys and Teams notifications. The emails that need attention get it.

I set up Outlook rules to filter all the shit into folders.

Unread mails in my actual Inbox tends towards zero, unread emails across my entire mailbox is tens of thousands.

None.

Check urgency, deal with if necessary or park and pick it up later.

I love the "if it's important they'll send it again attitude". They have sent an important email and 2399 follow ups.

I feel really productive now! The only problem is I'm getting lots of automatic read replies now.

9141 but they do auto archive at 12 or 18 months and drop off. I used to file them and faff about but realised I was spending time that I could use better.
If it’s urgent I’ll see it and action, the rest sit forever.

6186 as I type. They are archived after six months. I don't file emails. I do delete them as and when. And I do use the Search facility extensively.

Good god. Some of these numbers are giving me hives. If I get over 30 I get cold sweats. And over 100 would be panic attacks. I try to keep it in single digits but tends to hover in the mid teens.

One of my fellow directors has a couple of thousand and I honestly don’t know how they do their job.

I've 510 unread in my inbox and 8600 in my deleted folder.

A lot of whole school out that aren't necessary but just in case, an annoying number of reply all thank yous and a good number that I know have nothing to do with me from the first lin

This thread makes my teath curl...

I Have a 'zero inbox policy'

Emails get archived, put on my 'to do list'  or dealt with straight away, simple as that.
