It was quite cheeky of them to try and blame me for the issues with the suspension saying it was down bumpy roads and not normal roads?? how do they even jump to that conclusion.
I digress, but an old friend once tried to return a pair of walking shoes because the sole had split and the shop said similar – he had been walking on the wrong sort of ground and refused the refund. I went back with him to argue it and get it sorted.
"unfit for purpose" is a strange choice of words. That's from the old SoGA.
Regardless. It's done. Have a pint, enjoy the Passat, ideally not in that order.
I then phoned up the garage that did the independent report and they informed me that they had been on the phone for about an hour with a lady from the CC company who was basically trying to get them to trip up or admit the car wasnt as bad as they had said.
On top of everything else that is really disconcerting. Good you had a decent team at the independent garage to hold the line. Think they've earned a bottle of wine.
It sounds like your indy garage needs a big thumbs up, the CC company a bit less so.
As for the heap of shite garage who sold you a knacked car, they need shutting down. This needs to stop, the car you sold to WBAC will probably arrive on their forecourt again.
It's reasonable for the cc to check the facts with the garages but to deny these communications were ongoing is wrong. Whether a complaint would lead to anything i don't know.
Well done for sticking with it and getting a resolution that was fair!
they want to make sure you aren't buying them bottles of wine before the fact. It's reasonable for the cc to check the facts with the garages but to deny these communications were ongoing is wrong.

Yeah, I was going to say, playing devils advocate, the CC company do have a duty of care to get the facts right -
For example it could be the manager of the 'independent' garage is a good mate of the OP and hammed up the report as a favour, so I'm not really supprised the CC company didn't just take the report at face value and asked some more pointed questions around it?
so again, who is the garage? and worth sharing the Reg plate of the lemon, in case anyone is unlucky enough to come across it on here (again, apologies if this has already been shared).
Morning all,
The car has now popped up for sale at CINCH for £13795.
Reg is WU19ZSZ Seat Leon FR Estate for anyone interested.
That's crazy. I bet nothing has been done to sort the faults.
Crazy pricing as well for cars at the moment.
My 18 plate Leon FR estate cost me £12k when I bought it in mid 2020 (2 years old with 27k miles). Ridiculous that a 6 year old example (presumably with much higher mileage) costs almost £2k more than I paid 5 years ago.
Hopefully someone looking at it might search the reg no & find this thread.
Wonder how long it'll be before it goes from the website...
Looks like it had another MOT, failed on headlight aim, seemingly fixed and passed. No mention of knackered suspension or excessive oil burn.
It's certainly one to avoid unless proof can be seen that all of the issues have been addressed.

And with that, all notion of buying a car from Cinch has evaporated for me! 😂

Why ? If they bought from WBAC then they'd have no clue the car has any issues... Or if CInch are WBAC they may have repaired the issues.
Cinch is owned by Constellation Automotive Group, which is in turn backed by the private equity firm TDR Capital. Constellation Automotive Group also owns WeBuyAnyCar.com and BCA (Brittish Car Auctions).
On the same note there a good condition low milage auto 2018 polo in metallic grey out there somewhere. Take it for a 15mile test-drive if it the one I sold to WBAC it'll through up some engine management codes. It probably needs a new turbo.
