How long do you keep your pay slips and bank statements etc?
I want to shred them but the Mrs says we may need them.

I always thought you were supposed to keep them for six years. That said, I can count the number of times I've needed them on the fingers of one foot.
Just looking it up, seems the [url= http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/Taxes/WorkingAndPayingTax/DG_10010555 ]Government advice[/url] here is "at least 22 months from the end of the tax year they relate to. The tax year runs from 6 April to the following 5 April, so keep paperwork until at least 31 January nearly two years later."
Do you need longer than that when applying for a mortgage, perhaps?
