MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
What is the last thing you made? (pics pls) is undoubtedly the greatest STW thread of all time. I make a lot of stuff, and some things work and bring me satisfaction every time I use them for years to come... and other things I find in a drawer a couple of months later and wonder what I was thinking. So I thought it would be cool to have a follow-up thread...
The thing that made me think of this was the frame bag I made during the first lockdown. It's been on many an epic (ish) bikepacking trip, and on a lot of rides to the shops/the pub/friend's houses too. I had to replace a panel at the bottom where I overstuffed it on the Dales Divide 2020 and wore a hole through it with my crank, and I tapered it very slightly as well. Otherwise it's holding up well.

For the sake of balance... sadly I can't find any pictures, but the fork cages I made out of a pair of shampoo bottles spring to mind as one of my less succesful makes. They served me reasonbly well on a week long tour, but weren't great and I never used them again.
What have you made that's aging like a fine wine? What have you made that's aging like milk?
Slight frame failure in the Alps this summer where rough trails and a big 1 litre bottle eventually broke the bottle bosses. It actually cracked a bit out of the down tube (the silver soldering held up and a sliver of tube was still stuck to the bosses). Zoom in and you can see the holes....
Easily fixed with some little disc patches and bigger bosses.

The coffee table and shelves are standing up well to daily wear. I have sold a fair few of my paintings along with the frames I made for them. I will have to check the thread to see what else I posted up as I put a lot of my stuff on different threads like the 5ft Purple Seahorse
Amazing that the tube cracked before the soldered joint... guess the tube is pretty thin at that point.
Feel free to post stuff that's not on the other thread.
My weird home brew bike is still going strong. Over 1000km covered mainly round swinley (yeah I know not a massive test ha) but quite pleased with the absolute lack of maintenance needed and the fact the frame has not snapped yet! Not had time with life / work / mortgage / kids and all that jazz to build the next one yet but design is coming together (next one will be 29er and will include a folding joint in the single top tube so I can easily chuck it in the back of the car)

My shed I made in 2015 is still kicking along quite nicely.
Not even had to refelt the roof yet which is surprising... maybe.

I virtually never go in it now to be fair which is a shame, but I just cannot be arsed with the allotment job list so do the minimum.
I may be missing something doncorleoni but could you not flip the pedal arms the other way and get alot more clearance?
Also... Is it a unicycle hub in the back. Did you do a thread I missed?
That crank arm bike is brilliant! I don't remember seeing that on the original thread.
Hey guys.. Its buried in the original thread a few times. I did do a sperate post about 2 years ago now (my goodness time flies!) - have built quite a few of these before and folders but all have had slight issues which I am trying to improve
https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/chainless-bikes-2/
another shed jobbie. 2016, no joinery skills whatsoever, built with help from a mate, and LOTS of help from here as i went along. had 2 or 3 coats of varnish since, probably once every 2 years altho i didnt get round to it this year.
we get some real hoolies blowing from up the cliff and over the fields sometimes, so i was worried it may not be robust enough, but nope, its been spot on. we practically live out there when the weathers decent.
over the years ive added another decking/sunlounger area, a wooden corner suite, and a few plant holders from the scrap wood.
That chainless bike is incredible!
Like the shed too - I made something quite similar over the last couple of years. Never got round to posting any pics on the other thread, partly because it's one of those projects that'll never wuite be finished... it pretty much is, but I still want to make some adjustments to the retracting roof and make it play nicely with a flue for a stove.
Here's my bike workstand. Made from 40mm 304 stainless steel square tubing and odd bits of angle and plate. Adjustable for height and angle. (I made it years ago before the advent of the cheap options available nowadays!

Great to see the treadle bikes still going strong - far and away the best thing I will saw at Bespoked show.
And still got kayak's washing machine porthole window idea archived for future use.
doncorleoni's bike is twisting my melon!
I built a basic but functional TV cabinet thing a few years back, meant to post it on the other thread, but, yeah, didn't. Houses the soundbar and all the other AV crap and has a 43" telly on a cheapo motorised lifter. Works a treat and makes a huge difference to the room to have the telly hidden when not in use. Must sort photos....
