I want to buy a jigsaw map centred around one of the Mid Wales bothys. It is for a Christmas pressie for a mate. How can I find the postcode (the online jigsaw company need it) or for that matter, the postcode of somewhere vaguely close. Is there a map of postcode areas somewhere I can search?

Can you not just give them the OS grid reference? Most bothies don't get mail delivered as it happens so a postcode is a moot point 🙂

i've seen somewhere recently whereby you put in a GR and it'll give you a postcode for the area. can't remember where but i'll let you know if i remember which site it's on.
it wasn't very good so don't hold your breath.

Just be aware that the postcode area is a polygon. In all likelihood the jigsaw manufacturer will take the centre of the polygon as the centre of your jigsaw. I'd bet a decent sum, that centre of the postcode polygon is nowhere near the location of the bothy. Can you not talk to someone at the company and explain the situation? Some of the postcode polygons for the highlands are bloody huge.

Geoffj- I'm going to do just what you suggest. The postcode given me is for an ex youth hostel blummin miles from the bothy.

Phoned them today. They were honest enoughto tell me that they wouldn't be able to do it before Christmas. I like honest, it's good.
