Starts tonight @ 9.
Lol. How quaint 😀 Been available to stream since 2am.
Loved it! Really promising. Based on a much shorter story than GoT so hopefully they can get it done & dusted before it turns shite 😂
Hoping to catch it at 9.
It's excellent I thought!
Lol. How quaint
I prefer the term Old School 🙂
Watched the first episode, seems like a good start, some great actors in there, Paddy Considine will always do it right, same with Matt Smith, good to see Rhys Ifans and Graham McTavish in there as well, would have been nice to have a few more females of the same calibre.
Guess the big problem will always be moving the plot around what the viewer already knows, but it's based on a R R Martins work, so as long as they don't start tweaking the pace, or side story it to death it should be ok.
I've never seen Game of Thrones until last week when BT gave me access to Sky Atlantic so I've got a lot of catching up to do. Still recording it though.
I was told back in the old skool days to watch GOT.
I was very dissapointed to learn how hungergames that I attempted to watch then failed was not GOT.
WELL, they were too when I described to them what I thought was GOT.
🤣
I thought it was a pretty promising start.
Still adjusting to Dr who wielding a sword with long blond hair. Apart from that, I enjoyed it
Dr Who said the c word!
Filmed on Mam Tor. Walked through the set last year
I’ve never seen Game of Thrones until last week
The first few seasons were brilliant. Once the Lannisters have their falling out and Tyrion sets out on his own, stop watching and just read plot summaries. The final season was pretty poor.
not enough locations. I liked how GoT had multiple threads. this is mostly sad dr who with erectile dysfunction. where's mushroom, too?
I’m away on holiday so can’t check - is it available as UHD/HDR on Sky?
is it available as UHD/HDR on Sky?
Unfortunately not - dunno if it's available in the US in UHD/HDR, if it is then it sucks it's not on Sky in that format to.
Mind you even in HD the dragon in the scene at the start looked a bit blurry/low detail to me, have they not got as good a CGI budget as GoT had?
Apart from that I enjoyed it - although I question the need to call out the GoT winter and how important it would be in the future, it's like the HotD writers were having a laugh
How many series is this thing going to take?
If "one", then it looks promising. If the showrunners are going to try and string it into "four" then, well, erm, never mind. There's always Day of the Dead on SciFi.
Somewhat disappointed no major actors were beheaded during the course of episode 1. Mind you Paddy can't be long for the plot.

Ugh, annoying.
EDIT;
Found this thread whichhas people posting yesterday saying it is available, so it might be worth you poking around a bit.

Far far too many pointy shoes for my taste.
Interesting Sky thread that - looks like it's available UHD/HDR on-demand so will try that this evening.
Do you need to have seen GoT to understand it?
Missus loved GoT but I never got into it, don’t fancy watching 100 hours of TV just to know what is happening in this series.
Do you need to have seen GoT to understand it?
Nope. The main family in it (or what's left of it) features in GoT, as do a couple of the other families (Hightower etc) but this is a prequel and should be free-standing.
If anything, if you enjoy this you can then move on to watching GoT.
that was cool, but ultimately one of the reasons it fell apart at the end - they'd overreached and just couldn't pull it all together properly.not enough locations. I liked how GoT had multiple threads.
yeah I haven't read the book & trying to avoid book spoilers, although apparently that whole thing was new but did come from GRRM. It did feel very shoehorned-in and I guess ultimately turns the Targs into goodies rather than warmongering psychos if they felt all the conquering was necessary to ensure the survival of mankind! Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing though...although I question the need to call out the GoT winter and how important it would be in the future, it’s like the HotD writers were having a laugh
That's a fair point, I keep forgetting GRRM hasn't written his version of the GoT long night/winter yet (and maybe never will...) so perhaps that fits in better with what was stated in HotD.

The first episode is very very early in the plot, the whole storyline for dance of dragons is the Targaryen civil war, and as seen previously in GoT, GRRM tends to have characters change through the story.
Only thing i take away from the first episode is this could be a very long series, i think the timeline for this story is about 3 times longer than the entire (main) GoT timeline!
Yeah I think we are looking at a kinda re-run of GoT here tbh, I'd expect 5 or 6 series.
GoT got the pacing wrong, bit too slow and poderous at times, then rattled through the ending. I'd expect this to have better pacing.

It's hard to televise that kind of timeline - you run into the problem of having to recast popular actors as their characters get old. They got away with it in The Crown, of course, but imagine having to ditch Kit Harington after a couple of series of GoT.

If it gets eyeballs, they'll just keep making more of it.

Yeah, imagine having to sort through this for a replacement.

I never saw GoT until then first covid lockdown and bought it all on Blu-ray and watched it with my wife. We thoroughly enjoyed it, tbh I even felt the ending wasn't that bad. I've no access to hbo but hope this HotD is good. If it is I'll rewatch got, and by then the hotD Blu-ray should be out and I'll give it ago. My thinking is it's based on Martin's novels so should be a good plot and it's a lavish production just like got so should look good.
It’ll be interesting to see what characters become fan’s favourites, GoT had a few of the rogues who done good, like the hound, Bronn and Tormund, not sure the outline of this the s similar, hopefully it is, character development takes time though
Enjoyed that first episode, bit too much blood, but left with a lot of tension...got to wait a week now for the next episode now. Cant binge watch it ☹️
Enjoyed that first episode, bit too much blood,
Have you seen GOT? It was a little tame compared to that tbh, nowhere near enough nudity/beheadings etc 🤣
Decent first episode though, good to hear a similar theme song as well.
Underwhelmed here but I'll stay with it as I guess S1 episode 1 of any show is going to have a lot of scene setting and character introducing to do, so looking forward to machinations actually getting properly going. But:
I can do without the dragons, frankly, being on screen so much at any rate. Dunno if it's settings on our big OLED but they do look a bit out of an xbox game, and make the other CGI look a bit cheap somehow.
Also, and call me an elderly high court judge, but I do have a problem with the accents and mangled vowels of the younger female characters particularly. Unless of course Oldtown in Westeros has a Sloan Square (as in "leauds of planets have a sleaune squa...")
Watched it last night.
The whole point of Tits'n'Dragons is tits and dragons, so more tits and more dragons please 😀
Though it did deliver on the gratuitous violence front
A promising start

Haha, Lovejoy knew the score.
I think they've had to be a bit more sparing with the tits in the wake of #metoo. So the dragons better be bloody amazing.

Yeah, true enough, it wasnt as bad as fingers in eyeballs exploding head, but still had me wincing
It's and dragons? I thought it was 'tits, bum, violence and dragons?'. Right, I'm out!

Bit of a lack of bums and tits so far, but I'll give it time...
And no incest. Yet.
There is an orgy scene though, sooo 🤣
Tits on dragons ?, I thought we had that on GoT 😕
Gave it ago and thought it was a bit meh. I will give episode two ago but I reckon it will lack holding power for me.
Btw I'm mean tits, bums, and violence and dragons, not tits, bum violence, and dragons. If that's your thing though... That's fine.
Watched ep1 last night.
Tits - check
Dragons - check
Mildly subversive feminist-friendly plot points - check
It was decent enough.
It was decent, but the interesting thing about GoT was the sheer diversity of interesting characters and actors populating it from the outset, whereas so far we've only seen some fairly un-memorable courtiers and princesses. I hope they don't waste Paddy Considine and Rhys Ifans.
Yeah GoT's biggest strength for me was it's really strong characters (apart from Jon Snow and the dragon girl).
Not seeing anyone to match Cersei so far here.
