I'm probably typical household with a family of old to new bikes. Replacement costs would be high, but current value is low due to the age of most of them.

Who is everyone using these days.

A company that will insure 6 bikes with replacement value of 2 to 4k. All bikes currently under 500 quid.

Just plug all your details into Compare The Market or similar, listing the bikes as separate items with their RRP value. Then just double check the provisions for cycle cover of the ones that come out cheapest, as some won't cover in outbuildings at all, some demand locks in outbuildings, some don't as long as the outbuilding is locked, and various other bits.

FWIW, we're with Halifax.

Barclays were best for us. Nine bikes in total with three fairly high end bikes and the others in a similar price range to yours.

Had a good claims experience with Aviva, but now with Esure as they were cheaper at renewal.

confused.com it - check they cover bikes to the value you have before you buy. Has worked for me for many years.

Aviva plus.

Cover tested last November. A bit slow but paid out in full.

Including new for old on my son's (my old) Yeti 5 alloy. Exempt Yeti don't make alloy frames anymore, so paid out as if carbon.

Thanks folks.

£389 to 315 for 30 minutes work on the comparison site. There's more insurance than ever about these days. It used to be just Marks and Spencer.

Thanks

Keep my good road bike in the house and that's where my new bird will go when it arrives. Insurance told us if it's in the house it comes under your single item limit rather than bike limit.

Insurance told us if it’s in the house it comes under your single item limit rather than bike limit.

But if you "Specified item" it it's covered for accidental damage away from the home too...

It used to be just Marks and Spencer.

My M&S insurance (combined buildings and contents) auto-renewed recently to the tune of £700. Long story short I cancelled it and Meerkatted it instead, quotes from LV and Admiral for the same cover coming in at around £80.
