Anyone got one, can you share your experiences? Thinking about the 2.2 cdti maybe. Yet to test drive one but like the 3+3 concept.

FRV no, but I have the 2.2cdti engine in my CRV and it has been 'impeccable'! Good power, Smooth, Quiet, Economical, faultless....what more can you ask for?

Get a Multipla. Lots more room in the back once the seats are out and there is actually some rearward visibility - a commodity lacking in the FRV.

🙂 yeah the engine isn't a worry, I test drove a civic with the same and it felt very nice. It's more the seat config etc

Had a FR-V the middle seat is narrow for an adult, best suited to a child. small windows in the rear.

Its a Honda and goes on for ever. I had a 2.0 petrol.

I now have a 2.2cdti CR-V and the engine is ace.

Bruneep, does the crv win over it? Had been decided on a Touran but just weighing up alternatives. Tried a yeti on Tuesday which was solid but not much in the used market at the mo. Multipla doesn't do it for me lookswise. Presumed the crv was a bit too far towards 4 by 4.

I've had a 2.0 petrol for 5 years now. The longest I have ever owned a car and it has been absolutely faultless. As above, the front middle seat is a little too narrow for an adult to travel anything more than a short distance and the driving position takes a little getting used too ( you feel a bit squashed over to the right at first) but that soon passes. I looked at getting a new car this year with a budget of £15k but tbh the best replacement I found was..... A newer FRV, so decided to run this into the ground as it still runs and drives really well. I get about 32mpg with mine, would have liked the diesel but as I only do about 12k a year I couldn't justify the premium when they were nearly new.

All I can say is the CRV is an excellent buy - I have a 2009 CRV and it (as well as the engine mentioned earlier) is fantastic! The space for the bikes and gear is awesome too! (Which is a bonus!) Couple of trips to the Alps in mine with 4 bikes and 4 adults.

Space is great, comfort for me is superb, spec is great! Pic to wet your appetite...

Go and try one - you won't regret it!

Yes it does for me, as ltheisinger says test drive one. I'd arrange with dealer to test one after the other.

I have a 2.0 ltr petrol as well. Couldnt afford or justify the extra 2k for the 2.2 diesel with the mileage the missus does. Its not great on fuel - 30mpg generally, although not much worse when fully laden. We had 4 bikes on roof, +4 people inside going to Spain and averaged 28mpg.
Thats my only complaint. I always try to get a Honda, have had civics and a prelude in the past, never had a fault, very reliable cars.
The permanent 3+3 plus large boot is very handy and imo much better design/use of space than 7 seaters with no bootspace.

Get the 2.2 if you can afford it, and roof bars a bonus. Alloy wheels as well - the steel ones a sh*te.

ltheisinger, How do you find getting the bikes on the top of the CR-v and what roofbars do you use? I'm test driving one on Friday, and one of the concerns I have is getting the bikes on the roof. I'm current car has roof rails, so it's super easy to get bars on and off, are they easy to fit / remove on the CR-V?
