Aerolatte moo 🙂 Not as good as a steamer but not bad at all.

+1

I have a steamer and my wife has a Moo (for her hot chocolates). It froths the milk very differently to give a much creamier 'triple-thick milkshake' effect (not ideal for cappuccinos) but very good for what you want I would have thought.

Very cold and fresh milk is the key, keep the nozzle just under the liquid. Makes a good light frothy milk.

That would depend on your wrist action...

These work really well. Stick it in the microwave, then froth your hot milk.

Give it a go, it doesn't work every time, but as long as theres not too much milk in there, and its cold and fresh it works pretty well.

johnners only problem with a glass one is that they are delicate plus you can put a steel one on the hob.

Microwave until just not quite boiling (Pyrex measuring jug works well, as it retains the heat), then give it some with an egg whisk 🙂

Any plunger and a bit of fierce pumping will give you excellent milky froth.

I've used one for years haven't broken it yet, it's 1/3 the price of that rather pretty stove-top, plus you can put it in the microwave which I think is way easier than using the hob unless...

Get a french press, fill it up with some milk and pump like mad for about a minute. It kind of almost works. I use it to make a kind of cold latte. I dont even like coffee tbh.

heat milk until 60 or 70 degrees before whipping with balloon whisk, skimmed works best. Any hotter and all the protein in the milk goes funny, and you get no bubbles.

I first read this as "Home Late"..

I was going to say "yes sorry Dear I'm riding in the Milburrys laters"

Then read the thread propers..

I sometimes use one of those battery powered whisk thingies in hot milk, but normally use my steam on the machine.

+1 on the bodum thing above.

You can also just use a cafetiere - heat the milk first in the microwave and it froths up a treat.

What they're not good for is making coffee in, especially when you have a hangover and it takes a few goes to realise...

Definitely helps if you have a metal container to froth it in. Ceramic/plastic just doesn't seem to help create the same creaminess of foam

Put hot milk in an empty milk container and shake vigorously. Works a treat. Costs nothing too.
