So, your finest sporting photography please! Clean, safe for work pics only, as ever.

This week, how about we focus on some of the lesser known sports, the ones that don't get all the coverage. (And yes, I do realise that MTB falls in to that category! 😉 )

From a Leo Dickinson expedition to Nepal

Ben Ainslie. He's really rather good.

"definition of sport."

Can not be undertaken in everyday shoes. Otherwise it's a pastime

Higgo's first shot - skateboarder in the photo studio really caught my eye - top shot and it had to be a committed photog as the backdrop he's skating up are not cheap / easy too build.... and sure aint built for that kind of stuff! So i had to find out more...... amazing stuff

Real man's stickball 😉

I like this photo as it demonstrates two great skills of the game in one shot. The chap in red (Cork) is a right handed player (in hurling, unlike other inferior forms of stickball, you have your "good" hand over your lesser hand) and is hitting the ball from his hand towards the right of the picture as you're looking at it. The guy in blue and gold (Tipperary) is trying a "hook" which is an allowable play where you "hook" the strikers hurley with the tip of your hurley as he starts the frontswing. A successful hook is most satisfying and most annoying if you've been hooked when expecting a nice clean strike.

However, the Corkman is demonstrating how to avoid the hook by moving his right hand further down the shaft, thus shortening the backswing and avoiding the hook. You get a less powerful strike, but at least you get it away and it's handy for a short accurate pass to someone else on your team.
