we recently had a cupboard taken out. The floor tiles didn’t run underneath so we now have a gap in the tiled floor. I’ve been unable to source any matching tiles so need to fill in the hole with something that won’t look too awful.
thoughts are:
- fill it with coloured grout
- a self levelling compound of some sort
- a coloured epoxy resin

Black floor tiles.
They won't match but neither will any of your other proposed solutions.
Just get as close a match as you can.
I'd lift the rest of the tiles and redo the entire floor though. ....and new skirtings and redecorate.

Anythings going to look pretty bad. I'd try harder to find some matching tiles. Even nearly matching would be better.

Something completely contrasting would be better than a bad match. Cut a nice natural stone paving slab to fit and pop a pot plant on it?
PS - If a previous owner did the work, did they hide any spare tiles? I pop my spares under the kitchen units behind the kick board, but at the last place I pulled them out and put them in the loft when I moved out as its a bit pointless hiding them where they may not be found for 15 years 🙂 On a similar note, any spare tiles you can scavenge under other furniture/kitchen cupboards?

What's going to go there now? Can you hide it with something purposeful like a coir mat, a rug, a wire shelf for something?

Is what I was about to suggest - don't try to hide it as it won't work, so make a feature of it. Create a small plinth and tile with feature tiles - something bright and sparkly that match the room, then use it as a stage for a feature like a cool light, a nice plant or something.
I'd probably source some kind of compound and mix in with cheap acrylic craft paint blended to match. Also lightly score before drying to pair up with the other joins.

How about, whenever anybody visits your house, stand in that corner whistling and looking nonchalant. No-one would ever suspect anything is missing.
Sand and cement then mix in some used toner from the photocopier at work to get the right colour. Scribe on some lines and Roberts your fathers brother.

Personally I would go closest match I can - then bin / seat over the top, or sort the whole floor....
