[#9318741]

I'm running Office 2016 on Windows 10 on an MS Surface Pro, and it has been absolutely flawless for the last year.

Then just this evening, I tried to open a Word file, and it would get to a certain point, then just sit there. So I tried Excel and Power Point, and they all did the same thing.

I click to open one of the Office programs, and it will get to a certain point, then freeze.

I have no idea what is happening. It does the same thing even if I try to open in safe mode. Can you help?

It's not just one file, though. It's the whole of Office.

EDIT: Yes, I have definitely turned it off and on!

All the way off or standby.

If it's a year old, has your office subscription run out?

Try going to Add/Remove Programs, find Office and select the Repair option.

(Assuming Office 2016 has this option. Never used it)

Yeah - shutdown on W10 doesn't actually shut down. Restart does though.

Had something like that on the 'other' laptop last week. The repair option sorted it, but you could try logging in to the portal and reinstalling?

There was an urgent Windows update flying about yesterday and today and an office update the day before I think, they often happen in the background on the sly and our guys get lots of calls about slow machines and problems with office.
