Hey all,

Im hoping someone can help. My Bora (1.9 tdi) with the PD series of engine. 158,000 miles and it conked out on me yesterday. It wouldnt start again for awhile after either. It would turn over but just not bite. When you can get it started it cuts out again. It idles roughly, but if you rev it it stalls as the revs drop past idling point. The cutting out has increased rapidly since yesterday basically not allowing me to drive it even 5 minutes.

Ive replaced the dreaded 109 relay, cleaned and checked the MAF sensor and will check the EGR valve. Realistically, what else could it be? Im happy to try out things to save a garage bill and im buying a Haynes manual tomorrow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Doug

When was the fuel filter last changed? Have you checked for fuel at the injectors?

When it stalls, remove the fuel filler cap - if you hear a hissing noise as you do so, the breather to the tank may be blocked.

Something fuel related has been replaced recently. The main pump is in the tank isnt it? With a injection pump on the left side of the engine? I think its the fuel injection pump thats been replaced before I bought it. Cheers for the replies guys, all helpful. Craig, easy job to check injectors?

PD engines don't have injection pumps as such, they have unit injectors where the injection pumps job is done by a cam operated part of the injector - join & post here http://www.seatcupra.net/forums - some very knowledgeable guys on there.
