Hopefully going to watch the Tour & ride if we can get accommodation - anybody out there with any connections.

we stayed in Venosc for the Marmotte. Lovely village, set into the hillside. Google it. It's about 12km from Bourg so a short ride.

Valloire is quite pleasant with the Galibier on your doorstep.

+1 for king of the mountains with guy and helyn. I had a really enjoyable time there, despite not being able to ride due to injury. Food was unbelievably good. Really awesome. I told them I'd be back another time to do all the riding I missed out on, and I definitely will be. And maybe another time after that.

It's easy, just head uphill for a few k, come off the top of the Galibier, turn right and steam down the Lauteret.

It's quite a long way home after, you could follow La Marmotte route 😉
