We will be in touch
I've got an oldish PC been given to me which will be fine for my needs. I used to connect it to our TV but want it elsewhere in our new house so I need a monitor.
I don't want to spend much money but want a 22" monitor in widescreen with as high res as possible. Would mind a bigger one if I could get one.
I've been out of the PC game for a long time and don't know anything about specs or anything.
Don't need it for gaming or accurate colour reproduction or anything, but don't want cheap tat!
Anything anyone can recommend?
You have an idea of budget? Otherwise your requirements seem quite focused, what does a search bring up?
£100 would be the most really.
Use this deal listed on HotUKdeals as a starting point? As it seem pretty reasonable, though as it is more a budget gaming monitor (1ms/freesync), you must be able to get better.
BenQ monitors always seem to be well rated at the cheaper end of the market.
I got an LG IPS one from Amazon for £110. It's pretty good.
Don't bother looking for high resolution though because everything inexpensive is 1920x1080, and anything more is two or three times the price.
Asus are pretty good, well priced. I have a Samsung 24 which cost about £120.
As you have an oldish PC make sure the monitor has VGA input (these days often the cable is extra 😐 )
I have a 19" HP you could have for free but not for a month or so and postage etc would be a pita.
This one looks ok, Asus 24"
Everything that molgrips said. Pretty limited options other than 1080p but that's fine IMO. Very happy with my LG IPS.
We sell a lot of monitors in work, I can't speak for the quality of image per se but LG (of which we've sold few thousand over 3 years) have been faultless we haven't had a single one back.
I run a pair of 24" in work, they're lovely at 1080p
The PC isn't ridiculously old, IIRC it has a DVI and HDMI port but I will check it.
