I am trying to do some CD labels for work

The problem I am having is that our company logo is saved as jpeg's or bmp's and when I import it it always has a white box around it. This means I can't use any background on the cd label apart from white

Is there any program I can use to get rid of the background so that its the text and logo only?

You need to make the background transparent and then save the image as a GIF, TIFF or PNG formtat.

I don't use Photoshop, but techniques must be similar. Select the background colour, convert to transparent?

I know with my home CD labelling software it won't let you import a jpg with transparent background, but it will copy-paste it with the transparent background. You may have to select the logo outline to copy it?
