HEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLP
I've somehow managed to lose the CD with the drivers for My Canon EOS 350, so I can download piccies. I need to re-install them on my Mac, running OS 10.5.8.
All I can find on various sites are updaters. But I don't have the original software so they're no use. iphoto won't 'see' my Canon. Probably because its shite
Can anyone help. Purleeeeeeeez
You sure OSX cannot access the camera natively? i.e have you tried plugging it in and seeing what happens?
....but in the name of being more helpful:
A Mac install workaroundA slightly different version of the Mac Install process was sent to us (thanks)
Copy EOS Updater to Desktop, Right-click, "Show Package Contents".
Navigate to "/Contents/Resources/", right-click on "SDI.bundle",
"Show Package Contents".
Navigate to "/Contents/Resources/", delete "update.plist"
Note that you must copy the installer from the image to your hard disk, since the file can't be deleted in the disk image

I have a 350D which I've had for years and has always worked on my macs (now on 10.7). No drivers needed. Just fire up iPhoto and make sure the camera is then switched on (i.e. switch on after connecting it to your mac).
There is also the ability to change USB mode on the camera, so have a look in the camera settings if you are still struggling.
Smash it, Binners. Smash it up with a hammer SMASHSMASHKILLDESTROY!!!
Ooooh....
Just put your SD card into the Mac and thats all you need to do.
Jamie you cheeky monkey! How thick do you think I am? Oh, erm, actually.....
The link Adam sent states about the Canon site: "Only updaters for existing software are available... "
so you can't actually get the initial installs. well thanks Canon. That very ****ing handy. GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
I think I'm leaning towards Freds option
grantway - I've got nowhere on my Macbook to put an SD card in. Think I'll get a card reader tomorrow
I think one of the issues is the way the SD cards are formatted by the cam; is there an option to format it as a 'mass storage' device? That might work. I remember having exactly this problem with a flatmate's cam a few years ago. If it was formatted in Canon's system, it needed the Canon drivers, but the other option it showed up as a disk on the desktop. Right pain in the bum.
It's this reason that I woon't have a Canon. If it's not easily compatible with my Mac, it ain't getting bought.
Binners.
Are you telling me that if you plug your camera into the Mac, nothing happens? Even if you do as Pixelmix says, and select USB mode?
C'mon Binners, we know you can do it!

I have the Canon G11 and put my SD card from that into my Mac Book Pro and it just opens in iphot
zero problems. Best thing Apple said was to bin the cd's that came with the camera.
