Just before going away a couple of weeks ago, the bolt sheared off in my roof bar hard point. It is a BMW 1 series, it hard points under side pannels on the roof.
I have tried to get a friend (mechanic) to drill it out and remove with an easy-out. Unfortunately it's proving quite difficult. Whilst attempting it we did realise that the hard point itself actually screws into the roof. BMW parts say they cannot order me one in seperately.. I can't find a breakers yard that can supply me one either..
Anyone have any ideas about either drilling / re threading the original? OR where to source a new one, given that local BMW people say it can't be done??

Remove hard point and take to an engineers - they'll be able to either use a stud extractor or electrically erode it out.
