OK, new i4 comes with headphones with a remote for volume and an extra button to activate the voice control. Now, using th iPod on the commute, it's BRILLIANT to be able to control it just by saying 'next track', 'shuffle', etc and not having to fish around in my pocket one handed to change the track.
But they don't sit too well in my ears and I'm always pushing them back in
So, are there any other headphones that are better, but have the same remote control feature?
(And don't tell me I don't need the remote. Because I do, OK?)

Have you just got the cheapo ones that come with the iPhone? They're rubbish.

The ones that come with it yes, which happen to be the £25 ones in that link. They're not bad sonically, to be honest. Just not very secure.

Foo Fighters sounding reasonable right now. Treble is a tad splashy, but it's better than my old 3G with different headphones. I reckon the i4 iPod has a lot better sound than the 3G. Thank God!
Peter; once you've heard some decent quality earphones, you'll chuck those iPhone ones in the bin, where they belong (or on Ebay..). Trust me.
The Sennheiser and Etymotic ones for about £70-80 look ok. Those companies specialise in making headphones. The Apple ones are cheapo ones in fancy Apple styling.
Yeah, there are some on the Apple store with the remote it seems. Probbly the best place to look, cheers! 🙂

i tried using the mic on mine whilst riding to choose a track/ skip track or whatever
the wind noise confused it though, and it tried to phone a woman I had recently been on few dates with (and that things had ended slightly badly with)instead. I'm not using that function whilst riding anymore
having a volume control/ pause button close to hand is good though
Tim, I've just discovered during my search, that double click on the middle button on the remote is next track, and triple click is previous track. Apparently you can pause somehow too.....

It controls the phone too, so it would probably dial Effin Fred! 😉

I've got the Bowers & Wilkins P5 headphones.
Highly recommend them, the sound reproduction is excellent and the remote control on the lead works very well.

I can stand those little in ear jobs that everything comes with now. I have worn them on quite a few bike commutes but my ears got a little hot. They are also great when its sub zero as they double up as earmuffs.

Strewth. I think the wind noise from riding will wipe out any sonic gains they might give over a £50-£60 set! And they won't fit over a helmet either. 🙂

A single click is a pause. Several people make in-line remote controls so that you can use your own headphones (though not all have the mic function)
I heard a great story from 'other James' at Charge about a solo race he was doing (Set2Rise) where he discovered on a descent that he'd set his iPhone to 'Shake to shuffle' meaning he got a new song every ten seconds, he then tried using the mic 'Play Lilly Allen' - to which (at 2am) it replied 'Calling Lloyd' or someone, so he had to leave a jolted, breathless voicemail for them... All good fun, this technology. 🙂

Where would they fit though? Surely it need to fit up near the earpeice? It appears that I'm a headphone dunce!
Even I knew about clicking the headphones once or twice and I'm the least technological person I know. I stick with the normal apple ones on my commute just in case I get a call. And some nice ones when I just want to listen to music. I think they're sennheiser. I think I'd feel a bit daft talking to myself though
