Does the above exist for reasonable money? If so google is not enlightening moi.
Or would a PS3 do it? 😉
*bumps*
And again...Shirley there must be a Jap brand wanting to * sky up the *?
Hmmm it seems the only services that allow you to remotely record etc are sky and VIrgin...please don't let this be true!
If you can wait Youview should be launching May-ish 2012, or there's BT Vision, HD VOD but not HD freeview, iplayer service is great, but not HD.

Look at Humax HDR-FOX T2 (Freeview+ - has itvplayer, iplayer, 4od) or Foxsat HDR ( Freesat+, i think iplayer only? not sure as i use my ps3 for iplayer) boxes. User interface isn't the best but they're well built and trivially easy to upgrade the hard drive. No real need to record to DVD anymore - both of these will archive/play back from external USB hard drives as well.
I've not got round to it yet but it seems you can install hacked ROMs to the Foxsat so that it will stream across you network and let you transfer programes to your computers by ftp (you could then burn to dvd if you really wanted to).
If you can wait YouView still on the horizon (maybe) but the next generation of freesat boxes are meant to be really good.
Remote recording I've not had since my old hacked Tivo. Very rarely actually used it and iPlayer etc mean it's even less useful. I'd not be surprised if the hacked Foxsat rom allows it - once you've opened your machine to the network the internet is just one step further.
