Initially I thought is was some sort of router attachment but apparently this is how they keep them still for an x-ray.

They'll wake up screaming for years to come.

child prepped for x-ray
kid prepped for x-ray
kid prepped for x-ray

I can't believe they've chopped all their legs off just to fit them into those tubes, still it'll make a rear facing car seat feel that much more comfortable at 4 years old.

if its a choice between doing this so you can get an xray to diagnose the child or no xray making diagnosis more difficult or impossible which is the lessor of two evils. Its not routine anyway.

Tbh it may look bad, but it's better than what we had to do to our less than a month old son, we had to his arms and legs down to the x-ray table do they could x-ray his spine, not a nice experience listening to him cry out.

Radiation safety means you can’t hold them to do this kind of thing. Positioning is very important in getting a diagnostic radiograph and other options would probably involve sedation/anaesthetics which carry a risk.
