Castigated and thrown to the Wolves TJ

Unless it was on a motorbike, then he will say it was probably a safe speed as a motorcyclist has superior abilities due to their advanced training.

Jimmyshand - oh yes of course I am:

Why you need an MOT certificate
It is generally an offence to use on a public road, a vehicle of testable age that doesn’t have a current test certificate, except when:
taking it to a test station for an MOT test booked in advance
bringing it away from a test station after it has failed the MOT test, to a place of repair
taking it to a place, by previous arrangement, where problems that caused the vehicle to fail its MOT test, can be repaired
bringing it away from a place where the problems with the vehicle have been repaired
Even in the above circumstances you may still be prosecuted for driving an unroadworthy vehicle if it doesn’t comply with various regulations affecting its construction and use. Your car insurance may also be invalid.

From http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/Mot/DG_4022108

Please now back up your statement and find me an insurance company that will pay a claim on a vehicle with no MOT...

Your car insurance may also be invalid.

There you go. I'll use your statement to win my argument for me. Your car insurance MAY be invalid. Just like your car insurance would be invalid if you have a MOT certificate, but your car was unroadworthy.

surf mat - and there is a difference between not having insurance and the insurance company attempting to avoid paying. One person on this thread had his 3rd party costs paid despite no MOT - thats valid insurance in place despite no MOT

Do you think if the OPs insurance was not valid the cops would have done him for it instead?

As for the reminder part of this thread.

Look at the front of your cert there is a little sticky label with info on it remove this from cert and stick to windscreen or above "tax" disc holder. Job done. Wonder why they put this wee sticky on it in the first place.

Oh and if it's too difficult to remember when your tax and MoT are due then perhaps you are operating outwith your parameters.

Thanks Jimmy - Amy McDonald fan that thinks all you need for a overnight bike camping trip is gaffa tape. Yep, I'll be waiting with baited breath for your next bit of "advice."

Oh you are also an MTBer in...

Oh yes of course - looks at those hardcore rolling fields, that mountainous urban sprawl, those cracking forests and all the amazing coastal trails.

Lincolnshire is the "Holland" of the UK - I've been there a zillion times with work stuff. The place depressed me apart from the City itself which isn't bad. Countryside needs hills. End of.

Wow - it has an airport? Blimey, they don't do those down these parts - we all flap our arms and hope we make it over the Channel.

That's it - time to relocate to Lincoln.

Cornwall - which has endless coastal trails, bridleways, Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor nearby, Exmoor, plenty of forestry land etc, etc.

It also has these funny bumpy things called "hills" as well.

Oh please stop it.

Mat all you do is make yourself look silly in these arguments.. just let it go, it'll be ok.. 🙂

Brave man admiting a speeding ticket on here. The self rightous tendency will no doubt be along shortly to inform you you are the anti-christ.

As mentioned - I don't have a problem with people who make mistakes, I have a problem with people who think they have the right to speed because they think they are better. TJ.

No 'mountains' then? Waving your winky and lording it over someone living in another non-mountainous region doth not maketh you teh dood radster and uber-mountain-biker. It maketh you a winky-waver.

I think cynic-al needs to get himself fitted with a life.

Stalker geek...

And Bristol - good stuff a drive away but Bristol is hardly MTB heaven is it TooTall? And you WILL have your bike nicked very soon. Lived there for 8 years - Cornwall is about 1351351535 times better for MTBing.

MTBing in Lincolnshire is like DH skiing in Amsterdam.

Less than 15 mins drive from some of the best beach breaks in the UK? I doubt it. East coast often clean but often flat.

Needs to be Scarborough or above to be worth surfing.

TJ - why not move there then? And what about Wales? Much closer.

Nah needs to be Coldingham or above to be worth surfing, or Machrihanish or above on the west coast. Not crowded you see. Ooops.

Not crowded for a good reason - freezing cold + no groundswell window.

A nearby break at 9am on my Birthday - hardly crowded. You just need to know when to go in.

Flat it might be, looks beautiful though. I could sit there all day just watching that view. 🙂

Tiny? It was over head high - big enough for most and far far warmer.

My nearest break about a month ago:

Anyway enough of this - Jimmy - been surfing long? Travelled much (to surf)?

Recent barrel shot from my local - 95% certain it's me (I was in that day, it's the same board and stance as me, it was very quiet) from November, my mates think it's me.

[img] [/img]

And a poo stance "just before a barrel" that is 100% me at the same spot:

[img] [/img]

Honeymoon was 5 months of Oz and NZ - Byron was nice. I'm in this one (wife took it - she hadn't realised it's best to be able to see the subject properly when snapping barrel shots!!)

[IMG] [/IMG]

No more surf pics - a promise.
