So, I've got to hang 3 double wall units this weekend. 720h x 1000w.

Any suggestions on wall fixings?

First wall (internal) is 12.5mm plasterboard, D&D, small gap and then brick with weak mortar.

Second wall (external) is 12.5mm+40mm insulated plasterboad, D&D then brick with weak mortar.

Was looking at Frame fixings such as these:

or sleeve anchors such as:

I used these. Not cheap but designed for the job and easy to fit (which is handy when you need 3 hands).

Don't think those fixings will work with 40mm of foam insulated board but should work on the internal wall

The 2nd type of fixing is unsuitable but the 1st would be ok as long as you drill into the brick and not a mortar joint. If your units have a recess the back, you can usually cut a batten to fit inside the recess which you fix to the wall prior to fixing the units. Applying some no nails type adhesive to the batten before fixing will give it more strength.hang the unit on the batten and the fix to wall with frame anchors. Best of luck.

1st - decent length plug and screw through the plasterboard into the brick - hopefully you'll miss the mortar, though it's probably stronger than you think.

2nd - cut a strip out of plasterboard and insulation the full width of your units, fix a timber batten into the strip, fixed to brickwork using plugs and screws, fix units into timber batten.

I made sure there was studwork behind the plasterboard to screw in to.

He's not to find any studs in a brick wall with plasterboard dot and dabbed onto it 😉

I'm a fan of these, have used them for all sorts of jobs.

Not much consensus then. I've gone with some Fischer frame fixings. I'll post back in a few days after they've been up a while.

Have a look at this, and the supplementary video where he stacks two blocks on the shelf. They ought to be good enough for what you need.
