Have to laugh at this daft hacking nonsense, and the victimisation of Russia with it. For one, my guess is there's an other agenda here, and it'll involve in some sort of attack in web freedoms down there line. But, secondly and more morbidly amusingis the complete lack of any thought that America is probably hacking more any anyone else on the planet anyhow! They all point their fingers so innocently!

I honestly just shake my head at blatant hypocrisy on show all around us these days. Not even just these days, not like it's particularly new, but we definitely live in a culture of utter nonsense! 😆

Forget socialism, capitalism, whateverism this Bullshit-ism in full flow!

I don't really think it matters what anyone says anymore, long are you can get the masses happy claping away, it's all good. Truth really doesn't matter anymore does it?

This shower thought was brought to you by Mira.

the victimisation of Russia with it

Aye, poor ickle Vladimir Putin, the ex-KGB agent is so hard done by, what with his billions, his increasingly totalitarian regime, the way his critics keep getting murdered, the invasion of the Ukraine and annexation of Crimea, etc etc.

Yes, Russia is definitely the victim.

It's very worrying. Yes, the US (and the UK) have happily supported despots for decades, and it's beautifully ironic that Trump is just the kind of maniac that the CIA would be right behind installing in a South-American country.

In this instance, they are getting picked on for political purposes, the cold war mentality still has pull in america, obviously. I'm not saying they are good guys, point is all of them are at it. (Surprised I need to spell that out to you.)

If you watch that Snowden film on netflix, citizen four I think its called, he says exactly that, they are all hacking each other, as well as many more things, the US has zero right to complain about hacking. More than just the hacking though, the US has been influencing elections for as long as they've had the ability to. its terrible I tell you, terrible, the worst, the worst there's ever been!

Snowden film was pretty good.

Spies doing what spies are suppossed to do, it's in their job description.

China hacked 100,000 state employees accounts. Yahoo millions.

Whole episode imho has made Obama, Clinton and Democrats look pretty stupid.

Yeah I can't have too much sympathy for the US with regards to this.

How many revolutions, despots, puppet regimes, drug trafficking, wars etc have the CIA fuelled or installed over the years.

Aren't the security services essentially civil servants who should serve each government equally.

I know trump can install his choice of head for the CIA for example, but you don't really have a republican or democrat CIA. And in the defense of the FBI they did screw Hilary

So you're saying that the invasion of Ukrain and Crimea, and the shooting down of another country's civilian airliner were all just innocent events in a civilised country's normal activities?
It's not necessary for you to point out that Putin, an ex-KGB/FSA chief, is intent on restoring the former Soviet Union, by any means possible, empire-building while denouncing the West for allegedly doing the same thing.
Meanwhile China carries on hacking even more than the Russians are, and buying up most of Africa.
Then there's North Korea.
Or are they innocent victims of America's 'cold-war' rhetoric?
What's that term Stalin used again? Useful idiot?

LOL just wait till the shower is (appearing) to be doing the hacking.

LG is going to ship WiFi on all their devices this year. This will be everywhere, and don't expect security updates/kernel patches 😀

Internet of Shit will make the targeted hacks less traceable and increase DDoS bandwidth 100x.

That depends on perspective doesn't it. Nice to be such a threat that they released everything. Much worse when they hold onto it and blackmail you. History will judge. IMHO there are still people who see Russia as the leader of the ultra left wing communist world and think of it as somekind of homeland ignoring that it is currently under an effective police state and dictatorship.

The US have indeed being influencing other people's elections for years and years. If Trump was in collusion with the Russians, though (as some allege), that puts it in a different league. That would be new territory.

Quite unbelievable IMHO as it would have taken Sci-Fi levels of foresight to predict Trump becoming a serious candidate for the presidency. If you were in the election-corrupting business then there were far safer horses to have backed.
[Probably been mentioned on here already but the Dilbert cartoonist Scott Adams did just that and called it for Trump 2 years ago - some great posts on his blog about the cognitive dissonance of voting for Trump].

The russian goverment are bams, no doubt, but you give them too much credit, they are opportunists, trying to gain some relevancy on the world stage. (Which is working, a bit, because of "western" incompetence.)

Taking crimea? Handed to them on a plate by bungling US and EU foriegn policy.

Syria? Was an easy opportunity to play a bit of one-upmanship with obama.

They aren't the devil incarnate, and this isn't 1962 anymore.

I think the issue is that it's not that implausible to imagine Mr Trump getting up to some heinous stuff in a hotel room, and the FSB filming it.

Ask Merkel waht she thinks about hacking?

The only shock is any of this is that the Russians seem to be much better at it than we are - Trump, Brexshit, Sturgeon

Brilliant ways at destabilising the west.

Interesting times.

and the shooting down of another country's civilian airliner

It's interesting how much I've see this being trotted out on here recently. Whoever shot down Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, separatists or Russian regular forces (the Dutch Safety Board concluded it was separatists), it was without any doubt a "mistake".

Not something which is, however tragic, completely surprising when you consider that it was flying directly over a war zone in which war planes were being actively deployed for combat missions.

Yet some people nevertheless insist on being completely disingenuous by pretending that it was a deliberate act, even though the shooting down of a Malaysian scheduled international passenger flight could not possibly have had the slightest military benefit.

In fact it caused those responsible the needless loss of an expensive missile, and shed-loads of extremely bad global publicity. And yet they still want to pretend that it was done deliberately as they pursue their endless quest to sling mud at Russia at every possible opportunity.

Iran Air Flight 655 was flying in Iranian airspace, over Iranian territorial waters, along the flight's usual flight path, when it was shot down by an American missile fired from a US naval ship operating illegally within Iranian territorial waters.

All passengers on-board died. The US was not at the time engaged in any sort of war.

I have never however pretended that this was anything other than a mistake or used it to attack the United States - even though they didn't have the right to be where they were.

And that's leaving out all the "mistakes" when the US has attacked and slaughtered people attending wedding parties.

When people drag out the tragic incident of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 when attacking Russia it smacks of desperation - it's as if they are struggling to find sufficient ammunition.

ernie in the case of MH17 the Russians were supplying arms to support a civil war, they were providing this while pretending (badly) not to. That is the current problem.

It's just part of it, Russia is a state under a totalitarian/dictatorship with massive corruption and huge problems, lets just ask the free Russian media, the arts commiunity or the LGBT community what they think, what about the clean athletes? As much as you want to defend the motherland remember what it has become.

Not outwith the realms of possibility. Lots of posturing from Putin paints him in a very positive light in Russia and any lack of real progress gets blamed on the west etc. He stays in power without actually doing anything

Oh ffs I can't be bothered to engage with that sort of nonsense.

But as a parting shot I will point out that the Russian leader has overwhelming public approval, even when verified by western pollsters, the sort of approval most leaders can only dream about, he can easily win elections without rigging them. He's certainly no more corrupt than Yeltsin who the Western media adored, and probably a lot less corrupt. On gay rights Putin is probably a moderating influence on Russian society - polls show Russians to be extraordinarily homophobic.

EDIT : I'm no personal fan btw. I just don't have a lot of time for Western inspired drivel.

So can't be bothered to respond, same as the last time. I guess that means it's all made up then by the usual western media conspiracy...
Not all state lead but enough to make anyone uncomfotable objecting to the the dear leader

Also not a great list to be on with several other lovely countries

so all in not a great place for a lot of people, wonder how they got the winter olympics in a place with very little snow?
What about political prisoners?
http://imrussia.org/en/news/135-projects/special-projects/2113-russia%E2%80%99s-political-prisoners-the-updated-list
or the murder with lethal does of radioactive material on foreign soil?
Sending military forces into Crimea before the referendum?

Or is any critisism of mother Russia forbidden these days?

Yeah clever retort. Well done. Give yourself a pat on the back.

However if I wanted to debate at that intellectual level I would engage with Ninfan.

Sorry I thought the stuff posted above was the debate (you know the bits you refuse to engage with)
We can judge countries on a few things, the way they treat their citizens, the way they behave internationally and the way they conduct themselves, in these respects I rate Russia fairly low, tranparacy international also agree https://www.transparency.org/
Amnesty also have a lot to say about human rights abuses in Russia.

All of which I assums is just another western media collusion to make Russia look bad.

I'm not a fan of Putim or Russia. I would agree that there is a hell of a lot wrong with it. However, when it comes down to it Ernie is right. Similar actions by America and Russia are painted very differently by the media. Neither of them is exactly occupying the moral high ground - yet one of them suffers more criticism for it. Whilst the Soviet Union used to be the perceived bogeyman - Russia isn't alone in this now.
