New to guitar playing, looking to buy a "proper" guitar, are electro-acoustic worth looking at? Jack of all trades, or Worst of both worlds?

Yep dead handy if you play an open mike night or similar, best off going for second hand as it will be played in and the soundboards will have settled and developed.
There's a erange of differnet woods that will give you different sounds and respones it depnds on what you're looking for and wwhat/how you play.
You looking anywhere in particular, what's your budget?
