I've found the matcha stuff to be better than any other type. Certainly bags.

I also used to be uncultured and think it was vile, but then I learned the magic fix and so now really like it - has reduced my coffee habit in work way down to only one cup in the morning, the rest of the day it's green tea all the way.

The magic fix? Use hot water, NOT boiling water - boiling water makes it bitter.

I just buy the cheapest loose green tea from Waitrose (£2 a pack that lasts me weeks), put a teaspoon of dried leaves into a large mug of hot water, wait for the leaves to settle to the bottom (5 mins) and then drink.
When there's 1-2cm left in the bottom stop drinking, then when you're ready just top back up - the leaves are good for several cups.

Goes well with Chinese food, but has to be really weak (barely able to crawl out of the pot). Once it starts to get any hint of strength it tastes awful.

I tried green tea years ago - it was vile. Then there was a radio programme about it and I tried again, much improved. IIRC - green tea needs multiple infusions - the first is chucked, the second is drinkable, the third's an improvement, the fourth is the one that counts. That's why Chinese tea cups are so small. The fourth was really nice - just too much of a faff to get there.
Also, steep for less time than other teas

I've been drinking green tea as my hot beverage of choice for over a year now since I did my collarbone and was told that caffeine retards bone regrowth, (as does ibuprofen by the way).
I had all the same issues in that it tasted rank, but as mentioned above, let the water cool for a minute or so after boiling. It needs to sit for at least a couple of minutes before you drink it, and I had the great fortune of stumbling across green tea with ginger which tastes lovely.. kind of like you dropped half a ginger snap in your tea and decided to drink it regardless.
Having gotten used to it via the ginger route, I find that regular green tea is very drinkable when I'm out and about and find myself at a coffee stop.

Where do you get your weasel piss from?

Is the weasel piss fairtrade and organic or is it from battery weasels force fed green tea? #prayfortheweasels

edit- I like green tea by the way, in bags, from Lidl/Aldi.

The Pukka Macha tea bags seem to be immune from going bitter. You can leave the bag in for ages and it is still lovely, whereas Twinings you need to leave it in for no more than a few minutes.

I used to take a travel flask to work, using green tea bags, because the Morrisons flask I've got would keep a drink hot for hours, I don't like coffee that much, and ordinary tea is utterly vile if you put milk in it, and just stews if left black.
I don't bother now, the flask is too tricky to drink from while driving...

Jasmine green tea is the way forward. Loose leaf, decent quality. None of your vile Twninnings bags. Havent drunk builders in almost 15 years since discovering Jasmine tea.

If you are not enjoying green tea, then basically you're doing it wrong.
