I’ve got too much grass and need to get rid of some of it.

So, can anyone recommend me a decent quality lawn mower? Trick is, this needs to be quite a small lawn mower as there isn’t all that much lawn to mow and we’ve not got masses of free storage space (insert something about bikes taking up all the room in the shed).

So far all of the small mowers that I’ve gotten my hands on seem to be budget oriented models and not the sort of thing I’d want to subject myself to on a regular basis.

You say you have too much grass and want to get rid of it, but you want a lawnmower????

A lawnmower won't get rid of any grass; it just cuts it shorter.

So what exactly are you trying to do? Reduce the height if the grass, or reduce area it covers?

Honda izy looks very nice but the smallest one is about twice the size of what I’m after.

The goat idea is very tempting, and I’m pretty sure littleginge would be very happy with a pet, it I think the garden/lawn would leave it hungry.

Almost tempted by a hand pushed model if I can’t find any decent motorised ones.

5l of Roundup should keep you grass free (and will kill off anything that grows a leaf) for the next few years. Small pump sprayer and a 5l tub dont take up much room.

What you actually need is one of these:
https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-hand-push-mower/p/0406452?nst=0&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-abPz9a84QIVTb7tCh0-Pwj9EAQYAiABEgI0LfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

In fact, having seen that, I’m probably going to get one myself, for the piddly amount of ‘lawn’ I have, which is mostly moss anyway, the hover-mower jobby that my step-dad bought is hopelessly over the top, in fact I’ve been keeping it trimmed with a cheap scythe I bought a couple of years ago, but that’s a bit flimsy.

Bosch cordless.

Mine probably 5+ years old and still going strong. I only use it on the front and to do fiddly bits on the back.

You do need to keep on top of it though, it won’t cut long grass as well as a petrol mower.

Honda Izy is way too unwieldy if there isn’t all that much lawn, and they aren't the most compact either 🙂
Bosch Rotak corded or cordless IMHO

Having a better look about at the push mowers after looking at the Husqvarna 64 mentioned above I’m starting to think this is the way I’ll be going.

Currently trying to decide between the Husqvarna and two Webb models; the WEH30 and WEH18.

Has anyone tried any of the above? If not any comment on the preferred width of a push mower (30 up to 45 cm) or their cutting type (scissor or non-contract)?

Robot mower is the way forward if your situation is suitable.

The Husky was recommended to me by someone who had one at work when my brother was looking for a small mower for his front lawn and he reckons its great little thing. As with all cylinder mowers, it's getting the cylinder set right to the bottom plate though it's not rocket science (former Ransomes 5/7 driver)

Got a bosch push mower here, it's awesome. Our lawn is about 15x8, takes minutes to wizz over and does a good job. Very easy and light. It lives outside too, doesnt seem to mind the weather. As long as the grass is dry it cuts.

Would recommend to a friend.

Christ no! I’m just looking for cheap options from places I think would be handy to buy from, having done a search for manual push mowers, or whatever.
Just like everyone else does.
