I am reading Watchmen on my kindle and enjoying it. I have been out of the comic scene for a long time so I'm after a few recommendations. Anything old or new. What's worth a read?

DMZ was pretty good, as was Y, The Last Man.

Pretty much the only graphic novel type things I've read but I enjoyed versions of George R R Martin (author of Game of Thrones)'s short stories - The Hedge Knight and Tales of Dunk and Egg.

Currently reading Judge Dredd - Tour of Duty: The Backlash. It's excellent, interesting to contrast it to the stuff I used to read as a kid, it's definitely grown up along with its readers.

Batman: Hush wasn't bad, read that a couple of months ago.

The Walking Dead is good but going on a bit now!

I really liked The Killer as well, short 10 parter 🙂

Anything by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips (Fatale, Incognito, Criminal)
+1 for Y: The Last Man
Scalped and Northlanders were great. and I'll be obvious and say The Walking Dead

Obvious ones from the not-so-recent past would be Preacher (starts and ends well, goes iffy in the middle) and Transmetropolitan I reckon.

Marshall Law stuff is cool (but not everyone likes it - not sure why).
Zenith if you can get hold of it.
Got a soft spot for Arkham Asylum (big fan of Dave McKean).
Maus is another obvious choice I guess.

'Neonomicon' by Alan Moore (who you will know wrote Watchmen) - really very, very good - based on H.P. Lovecrafts Cthulhu mythos. Extremely graphic - not to be left hanging around the house!!!

'The Dark Tower' by Stephen King. Just bought the limited edition slip case two volume edition. The story is superb and the art is staggeringly good.

'Marshall Law' is a good recommendation. 'Fear and Loathing' is up there with Miller's 'TDKR'.

'Grendel' comics by Matt Wagner - superb. 'Four Devils, One Hell' being particularly good.

Chuck Dixon's, 'The Joker: Devil's Advocate'. Great story and Nolan's drawing is excellent.

Heard my parents giving my brother grief tonight about his collection of Judge Dread comics in their loft.

Think there are hundreds there, they may be binning the lot if anyone wants them. I'd have to double check story and have no idea what the magazines are about.

email in profile if you are.

+1 for sandman, transmetropolitan, DMZ, 100 bullets

gave up on Y the last man, not sure why it never grabbed me

V for Vendetta is always worth a read

Lucifer always gets overlooked but is 90% as good as sandman, which means i still think it's very good!

I got back into 2000ad about 18 months ago and have to say that the "day of chaos" and "cold deck" arcs for judge dredd were excellent
