Snap! Dispatched from shopto.

Typical though I now have Black Ops, Assaisins Creed Bro. Hood and GT 5.

Least now Santa get the elves to work on a Steering wheel and pedals for me.

Apparently Prologue was about 5% of what they had developed at the time....

Going to play GT5 this morning, will report back. I am a fan of the series, but currently don't own a PS3, is it good enough to warrant a purchase?

Well... First thing it looks and sounds gorgeous. The cars are rendered as well as tradition dictates, but the real improvements visually are in the crowds and scenery. The cars still seem to stick to a strict(ish) racing line but you can no longer bounce off barriers with the ease of previous titles. The crash damage a welcome addition but I thaught the metal on panels seemed to curve rather than bend at jagged angles. However I can't say I played it long enough to propely explore the damage. The press realse for the current line up of cars was impressive enough with those 1000 promised rides that will be drip fed to gamers over the next 12 months seemingly mostly colour/livery varients of existing models. The cars drive like they always did in GT games, really well, with a huge noticable difference between the Impreza and Mercedes cover star cars I tried. It will sell by the bucket load, it's evolved well from the last full game and has a quality feel like any labour of love has. If you own a PS3 and like cars it really is a no brainer. Worth the wait? Graphically yes, gameplay Remains to be seen.

Is it still harder to get a gran turismo driving licence than a real driving licence?

I'm sure it will be, but driving a Zonda round the 'ring is harder than going to the shops in a Micra.

I've set up my wheel in anticipation of GT5 hitting the doormat.

What wheel are you using?

I'm thinking about getting a wheel and pedals - are they any good? Do they make the game better?

Thanks

I think in fairness it's less of a problem if you drive your imaginary zonda into a pixellated wall

Although more humane to ram a Micra into one...

Are you serious? Even one of these doubles the realism - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Driving-Force-GT-Steering/dp/B001IWR9JY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1290271810&sr=8-1

Northwind, indeed.

Zedsdead, an old Logitech Driving force Pro. It probably makes the game harder, and certainly much more tiring.

Well mine arrived this am, just had a quick go. It's taking ages to get a game as keeps trying to connect to GT5 servers and they're not up yet, suppose I could put my PS3 in offline mode. Had a quick go on Arcade, seems very good realistic driving technique and a little tricky with the normal remote.

Weather effects are excellent the spray from the rain on the track means you can't see much at all if behind other cars. Looking very good with loads of tracks and cars just as normal without unlocking anything.

Think Santa might have to being me a wheel and pedals though.

Mine arrived this morning. Can't wait to fire it up tonight. I've waited 3.5 years for this game - hope it's good.

So how come some of you, have you have your copy already?

Just had a text from game, mine is waiting for me on the 24th.

Anyone yet tried beating any of the TG track records?

😉

I'm guessing mine arrived early as I pre-ordered 2 months ago and the mail-order companies can't ship all the orders in a single day. So to guarantee people get it on release day they ship a bit early.

Mine arrived as I used a decent online supplier who so far have always delivered the game early and are usually the cheapest.

Shopto.net are very good.

Bloody hell, at around 45s that looks almost like a photograph!
I'm impressed!

Major dilemma in that I'm at uni and my copy is going home. Bad times, should have been delivered now though!
