Went several years ago just before Christrmas, remember landing in grim weather at Manchester airport on the 23rd of December after boarding in around 70 degrees!

I didnt find it too chavvy i think if you want to find the nice places you will, just steer clear of the English bars and all day breakfasts!

All the Canaries / Balleircs (sp) have good places if you avoid the tourist traps

Went to Gran Canaria end January last year, if you go into the countryside there are no tourists. By the beach.... Nice to go somewhere warm and dry when the weather in the UK is crap. It wasn't hot but was pleasant on the road bike.

Go for it. Hire a car and 5 minutes from the all-you-can-eat-tattoos-and-fags are nice bits 🙂
