after an hour fiddling with chain tensioner, adding and removing links and changing position of the ring, I finally realised... magic chain length! No tensioners, no rubbing, no noise. Single speed perfection. Happy times. Then the sun came out, so i'm off out for a blast. shame I still can't find one of my SPD shoes, but I'll ride flats.

If my experience is anything to go by then the chain will stretch on the first ride then you'll need the tensioner again.
