My partners boy is 15 and (maybe) looking for some extra pocket money over the holidays.

I have masses of garden work mostly hedge cutting and shredding etc.

If he were to enquire as to helping and earning some cash. I was wondering what the going rate would be. I don't want to exploit the kid or drive him into the ground. But I don;t mind paying out for the help and it would be good for him to have some work ethic instil.

So... Minimum Wage, Paper Round rates ... tenner for day ? Or nought, just the pleasure of graft 😉

I'm not a business just my own garden stuff.

Any thoughts.

Pay him per job, not per hour.

How many hours would the job take you to do X £5.00

(if you reckon its a 5 hour job then pay him £25)

After pricing up a cattery at £104 whilst we're on holiday, I've paid next door's 10 year old £30 to pop round every day to feed the cat for 2 weeks.

He thinks it's Christmas, the cat doesn't bugger off to somebody else's house and it saves me £70, his dad keeps hold of the keys so he knows when the lad is going round to make sure he's doing his job.
