So, I got one one of the Panasonic 42" plasmas a couple of years ago. HD ready (though not 'full' HD) but with only one HDMI slot which is currently occupied by my excellent proggressive scan Denon DVD player.

If I get a SkyHD box (or a freeview HD box) how will I connect it to get the best pic quality?

Can I put another HDMI card in back of my Pannasonic, or are there '1 into 2' adapters available?

Yup you can get splitters to switch the source.

I have a HD ready 32" TV & currently run an Aiwa surround-sound system with it.
It will happily run a DVD player but when we tried the PS3 Blu-ray it would not run the sound through the surround system.

If i buy a Blu-ray player is there a way i can run it with the surround system or do i have to fork out for a whole new home cinema system?

muddydwarf, does your current surround sound setup have either an optical or coax input? If so, then your fine.
