Having just used the expression on another thread and noticing three others use similar, it got me thinking about the origins of the expression.

A google brings up lots of cycling/motorbike/boating forum threads, plus it's in Urban Dictionary.

But does it have anything to do with The Flumps?

I thought it was a corruption of the 'dogging' term going for a Poodle which means going for a dogging session but not really straining yourself.
