Went out riding with a mate the other week and he brought his Go Pro along. Did plenty of vids during the ride and when he dropped me off after he hooked it up to my pc and transferred the days videos to a memory stick for me and said if I wanted to do any editing then I should use Windows Movie Maker. Had a play around that evening editing videos and putting various clips together no problem. Quite enjoyed doing it so went out and bought my own Go Pro.
Went out riding the other day to do a bit of testing with the camera on different settings and when I tried editing the videos in Windows Movie Player the quality of the videos was a bit poor and seemed quite pixelated but when I saved them to the pc/memory stick and then played them back on the pc or TV they were fine. Fair enough, I can live with that.
Been out today and done some more videos and when I import them into WMP there is only sound and the picture just shows a green screen. Thought it might have been something to do with the settings I'd had on the Go Pro today but even the videos I've previously used without any problems, they now just show a green screen.
So......what's happened??

What version of MM? Are they Mp4 files? I had a compatability issue with an older version - ie it didn't like MP4 files, and I had to convert them.

The current version on my new laptop is fine though?

IANAMME, obviously. 🙂

I've had a search on google for answers and I've read about windows movie maker not liking mp4 files and I may have to convert them for it to work. I'm just a bit confused as to why the first batch of vids from my mates camera was fine and now they're not.

Trouble is, the conversion process seems to bugger up the picture quality. If you can get the latest version of MM, that might fix it. My latest version is the 2012 version.

Have you tried using the Gopro studio software? it's free and it's got to be better than anything Microsoft give away.

Martin I am on the latest version of movie maker because I had to download it the other week when my mate first gave me the videos he'd done.

Mr C I do have the Go Pro studio as well but I just found windows movie maker easier to use.
