Took me 10 minutes to get the ****er off the box! 😆
So birthday boy this morning received a very nice present of a go pro 3. So where should I be heading for tips on usage, which/cheap accessories and which editing software?
Any help much appreciated!

Advice
For interesting film remove it from the helmet and chest mount some of the time. Look at mini tripods etc.
Short films are better films with lots of variety.
It's better with somebody in shot rather than solo efforts.
Accessories
Get the chest mount
Tripod mount (I used the packaging)
Editing I'm using Adobe Prem Pro 6 on the creative cloud deal (subscription- there is a 30 day trial)
Your opinion of it's good advice or not https://vimeo.com/mikewsmith
I have progressed over the 2 years I have had it.
Also Vimeo hosting is my preferred, much cleaner than YouTube

Don't throw away the mount you get with the packaging. 😀

This will help you understand how to get the best from your Go Pro:

Buy some extra batteries, they don't last long! Also get some class 10 MicroSD cards, you will fill your hard disc very quickly!

I also use Premiere Pro CS6, as you can import Hero Protune videos straight into it and does everything you could ever want it to do. I do find my computer struggles at times, but this could be as I'm syncing 4 camera's.

Premiere is brilliant. Native editing of go-pro footage, which means pretty much no import time. Expensive though.

You can edit with various cheap / free things (I've even done some stuff in virtualdub with it), or use youtube video editor, but as far as I know there is nothing that is anything like as good. I always find myself going into work to use Premiere on the video edit machine there any time I need to edit HD.

I have lightworks, which is free, will deal with HD footage and works okay if you have a very fast computer, but it is just not on the same level as Premiere in terms of ease of use and speed. I

works quite well as a stills camera too and can get some interesting shots on timelapse.
