If you drive in, park for a few days and then drive out, is there just one penalty charge? Or is it per day?

I'd think, if it's anpr, it would be each day you're logged. So on entry day and on exit day

If it’s anything like the London congestion charge, is it not if the car’s seen moving past a camera? So the days it’s parked up don’t attract a charge.

That's my understanding to - you get a fine (it's not a charge) when it goes past the camera.

Just out of curiosity, how does the maths stack up for a £60 fine on top of whatever you're paying to park? Surely there's somewhere outside the boundary that would be cheaper, even the multi at Springfield Quay or the one at the SECC.

What about parking at shields Rd tube station car park

The lez is pretty small and most of the car parks within the lez are expensive

Surely if you just pay the charge rather than waiting for a fine it will be less, though?

Edit - apparently there’s no mechanism for non-compliant vehicles to pay. Compare & contrast with the Manchester shitshow

I don’t believe you can pay a charge as it’s a ban on non compliant vehicles with a fine for entering.

Then I suspect that you are doing exactly what they want you to do, the cunning fiends!

You can reduce by half if you pay within 60 days I think

Also its £60 first day doubling each day up to a max of £480 if you can expect to have received the first charge by the time of the second

Yup, pretty punitive.

There is a shocking lack of parking outside the zone though, Shields Road isn't 24h either, not sure what the surface car park is like but I'm pretty sure the multi gets locked up overnight.

Edit – apparently there’s no mechanism for non-compliant vehicles to pay.

Yeah none of the Scottish LEZ's have a paid entry option, it's a straight ban.

If you drove in, parked for a few days and left you could potentially only be liable for £30 (one fine paid in 14 days).

Depends what "expected to have been received" is legally based on....

You cannot pay to enter a LEZ.

If a non-compliant vehicle is detected in Glasgow's LEZ, a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) will be issued to the registered keeper of that vehicle.

A maximum of one PCN will be issued to the vehicle's registered keeper for breaching LEZ rules in any one day.

Set at national level by the Scottish Government for consistency across cities, the initial penalty charge for all non-compliant vehicles entering a LEZ in Scotland is £60.

A scheme surcharge means that the penalty charge amount will double with each subsequent breach of the rules by the same vehicle detected in the same LEZ.

Surcharging will only apply however after the first, or most recent PCN can be expected to have been received by the vehicle's registered keeper.

Penalty charge rates are capped at £480 for cars and light goods vehicles, and £960 for buses and HGVs. Any further breaches of LEZ rules by the same vehicle detected in the same LEZ once this cap is reached will result in future PCNs issued at the capped penalty charge rate.

Where there are no further breaches of the rules detected within the 90 days following a previous violation, the penalty rate will be reset to the base tier charge of £60.

All PCNs will be reduced by 50% if paid within 14 days.

Had a look at Edinburgh's you'll be surprised that it seems to skirt the entrance to Scottish parliament. Do you still pay if your underground carpark entrance is on the boundary with the spaces technically within the zone.

I'm no clearer, but was asking as the 'park and ride' is the other option, or take the little petrol car (a jam for 4 adults and luggage). I'll check those car parks, as the car parking would be £30 and the Penalty £30 or £240. Cheers.
