I'm a peasant when it comes to anything other than 80s popular music, according to my wife at any rate.

I was shaving someone at work the other day* and he had a CD of Gilbert and Sullivan songs, Pirates of Penzance and all that, and now I love it.

(* He had Guillan Barre Syndrome, so needed a bit of help...)

i was a scenery shifter for "pirates" about 20 years ago, 2 performances a day for 5 weeks, still makes me shudder when i here the tunes, only did it coz i fancied a girl in the Chorus

Wouldn't go looking to listen to it now, but when in school we did productions of Pinafore, Iolanthe, Pirates and Mikado. Iolanthe could have been written for todays politics just as much as the 1880s. Think Pinafore was most fun to be in.
