I run in Asics which are fine for all my regular running and track training but I've been thinking about getting a pair of lightweight racing shoes for track training and racing as I want to really work on my PB this year.

Do I need to test these before I buy in the way I do for regular running shoes? I'm getting a Wiggle voucher from my bro for a late Xmas present but no need for any new bike kit so I'd like to use the voucher for racing shoes.

Don't want to try shoes on in a shop and go and buy from Wiggle...it's not great behaviour really

If you like asics go for the DS racer or DS trainer?

This is what I'm looking at. But how do I know they're the right shoe for me, or is the whole thing about neutral/support shoes to suit your style less relevant for the racing shoes?

Can of worms!!!! Ran in asics support shoes of years, then tried DS trainers for tris and 10ks and found them best all round. Not fully converted to barefoot ect, but like the way you can feel feet in DS trainers. I now run in DS Ts for everything bar XC and fells.

Edit:
That's the link to the DS trainer. Great shoes for me but it's very personal. Might be cheaper at start fitness. Plus they have 10 % off.
