Stupidly picked my road bike up chainring side and got a big black imprint on the leg of my bib shorts which happen to be white there!

Any tips for removing?

Your shorts are doomed.

Try rubbing in Swarfega then washing as hot as possible.

Try rubbing it with water and a Vanish bar and then washing it. That worked on a white Gore jacket of mine.

I ended up using white spirit on a red gore jacket with oil on the sleeve. Didn't get it out, but worked better than all the washing products I'd tried.

Do you have some chain degreaser? Has worked on clothes and carpet for me.

There should be laws against white bib shorts.

I've use 1001 carpet cleaner with good success on both clothes and carpets.
Oily muck from bikes seems to have an attraction to both of them, the stuff's a godsend especially when all bike maintainence gets done in a rented carpeted flat!

It's the reason most bib shorts are black - the only "proper" colour allowed

Obvious solution:

washing-up liquid dabbed onto the oily stain, rub in gently then wash as normal.

I'm forever getting oil on 'decent' clothing (pop into garage just to get something, end up spending an hour tinkering...) and this has worked every time.

You need a citrus based chain cleaner/degreaser. Cuts right through.

I've just dyed the bottom of my new shorts pink in the wash. not happy. might just buy a pink jersey and pretend it is intentional.
