The mind boggles where this country will end up. Crass stupidity from what I can tell.
Must be hellish to be on the receiving end of one of these letters, come what May:
British-born man 'told to leave country' in Home Office blunder

Yeah, Shane is a friend of a friend of mine. Popular opinion is that it's a screw-up and The Powers That Be will relent. Still shit, though.
I'm sure if he fills in the relevant 100 page form and has a note from his great great grandparents our wonderful bureaucrats will have this sorted in no time.
Don't worry the soppy bitch couldn't get rid of old hooky in a hurry so he should be ok.
And this has what to do with Brexit? This sort of stupidity has been going on for bloody years! Brexit has ****-all to do with it.
Well firstly being born in the UK does not give you right of residency or citizenship (as it would in say France or the USA). Secondly it was a mistake and admitted as such.

I am Indian born, and along with my parents, was booted out of India in 1980. It's an immigration issue.
As above, nothing to do with Brexit.
He applied for a passport a year ago, and was refused, and did not enquire why, just applied for an Australian one which he was issued with. Surely this process may have rung a warning bell or two??? When I first applied for a passport and was refused, I went along to an interview with passport office in Liverpool who quickly took all my Indian documents (in Urdu and triplicate) and British High Commission registration, and sorted it then and there.
And this has what to do with Brexit?
Zich.
But people love to mention it.

Yep. This.

Note the capital M. Suspect it wasn't in error.
Is that even worthy of a news? I mean even if they send him to OZ land they still need to bring him back because he is legit. If I were him I would relax and chill to get a free holiday oz trip.
Go visit immigration forum then compare his problem to others and you will realise his problem is so minor, it's laughable as news. There are people on immigration forum who have been evading the law for more than 14 years just to have the rights to stay (no guarantee). I mean if they have a grandparent who was born in the UK, they would be jumping with joy to apply to stay etc ...
If you have parent/grandparent born in the UK, you can stay etc so long as you fill in the paper works. How hard can that be?
What's the big deal?

Makes one ashamed to be British, eh? 🙂
