Considering buying one of these models and trying to see the differences as the Vista is quite a bit more. As far as I can see the differences are compass and altimeter. I would expect to have a compass with me, and an altimeter would be useful at times. Is it worth the extra for the Vista? Or are there other things that make the Vista worth paying the extra for. Thanks.
No, Legend is plenty good enough. You could even go down to the Venture and not lose too many features, but for most purposes Legend will do everything that Vista will, only cheaper.
The electronic compass is a waste of time (varies hugely unless absolutely level). I guess the barometric altimeter is more accurate than simple GPS if that's important to you. The Vista has more built in memory but with an SD card slot that isn't so important these days either.
Both very good units though and the high sensitivity GPS sensor is great at hanging on to a signal.
I've got a Vista but I think the Legend would be plenty good enough.
Thanks both - will look at a purchase soonish.
