It’s been an age since I’ve posted anything, work has kept me busy.

This is just a heads up to say that the garden here at the Hoose of Moont is to feature in the Garden of the Year programmes which start tonight on More4 at 9.00. We don’t appear until next Monday evening and if we make the final, the next day

We are rank amateurs who have created everything ourselves. No designers or contractors. Mostly my 81 year old mother and her spade.

Zoe Ball is the celeb presenter, very natural and sincere in person, she looked me in the eye and said she didn’t want to leave

TV researchers found us, we didn’t enter voluntarily

There are some garden pics on my Instagram page under mcmoonter

Typing this on a tiny phone with a cracked screen. Apologies for typos

having visited your place many moons ago it would be a tragedy if you and your mother didn't win.

Bon chance!

I really need to pedal over to yours one day and invite myself for a cuppa...

Perhaps an STW ride, garden meander, woodshed nosy and bring a cake day is needed?

Matt, sounds like a plan, the garden is at its best at the end of May, beginning of June. Do look in however if you are passing, I’m often home

Set to record. I was thinking about this today as I hacked our overly dry garden into shape before it rains again.

I'm watching. Saw a sir and a lady, and another couple overlooking a big bridge. Now in Ireland.

Studio is still standing, but no sign of Holz Hausens anywhere;) maybe they are ultra secret, garden looks amazing.

I was disappointed by the lack of holzhausen and dilapidated land rovers;-)

Well done!

Guys, thanks for the comments. There’s so much more they could have filmed. We suffered a torrential downpour on the eve of their arrival. Precious little was left standing. I’d hoped they’d have shown the wood piles, but maybe that’s a different programme altogether

The director works weekly with Monty Don, so I’m hopeful he can come when it’s at it’s best

Thanks again, I’ll pass this on to my mum

Watched your episode last night and was delighted to see you got through to the final. No more than you deserved. Looking forward to catching up on the final later. Sad not to see some epic wood storage and land rovers but understandable.

On a slight tangent, did anyone get their Cardio Crinum Gigantium seeds to grow? I still have some waiting for the perfect conditions....

Anyone else disappointed that the winning garden seemed to be a triumph of huge finance and clearly some full time gardeners employed?

😕

Cardiocrinum updates? Yes we got messages from a couple that we sent seeds out to. It was a five year wait but they did germinate and flower

I’d like to see bees and hedgehogs on the panel of judges next year. They know a thing or two about gardens

To me it felt like a generic nice garden rather than anything truly special. Of the final 3, I'd have chosen the small garden, just for the amazing way it used its space.

I agree.
It would be nice if the panel had someone who championed ecological benefit, diversity and climate....

Agree about the wildlife. That winning garden was bereft of hedge hogs, foxes, badgers, wild birds, amphibians, etc. Maybe the odd bee found its way into the flower beds.
