Shane Warne is an absolute boor and can generally be relied upon to get things exactly opposite to the truth on almost any given subject. Shame as I think he is capable of being insightful.
Smith looks to dump Broad into the stands at long on. "Shot!" exclaims Shane Warne on commentary. A pregnant pause. And then Swann takes the catch.
😆
what were you then ? a new romantic !
A declaration...
This does mean I'm going to get no sleep...
Ooooh. This will be interesting.
aussies declare ! should be interesting
So Strauss has bigger balls than Atherton? Whereas Holding.......!?!?
(re the run chase!)
And england open with two opening batsmen, which is nice, and in contrast to Australian practices
can't see England going for this.
So, to listen to TMS about six seconds ahead, or to put up with Warnie's incessant whinging?
wheres gordon greenidge when you need him ?
MUTE button Zokes
They are going for it anyway[ well as best as these big hitters can]. I expect top 5 to go for it then shore it up.
Not sure they can up their game or score quickly tbh
Will be a god psychological blow if either team wins
looks like i'm wrong ! 😳 and not for the first time 🙂
the crowd have just made their feelings known....
STAND UP, IF YER THREE NIL UP!
Root out
Unleash the Trott when you need quick runs
Why did England not do what the Ausies do and send out Broad see if they can make him cry 😉
Probably because it was pretty apparent that 1-day boshers are woefully outclassed by test bowlers with the new ball
I think once the run rate gets over 6 that'll be it, england will pucker up tighter than a snaredrum
Unleash the Trott when you need quick runs
A man with an ODI strike rate of 77.2 - which is pretty decent given his usual role - good call.
I really hope England have a go and make this - they're not far off the required rate (currently ahead of D/L par score). Can we please have an interview with Faulkner if they do?
D/L par 39/1 off 10 (would be 55/2 off 10, which shows the difference a wicket might make, even if it does bring in one of our big hitters).
In case anybody is interested, here is the D/L table (apologies for STW messing with the formatting, you should get the idea):

D/L is not applicable to test cricket as tests don't have restrictive fielding positions.
It's still a useful guide though
D/L is not applicable to test cricket as tests don't have restrictive fielding positions.
It's just as relevant, as it takes no account of fielding positions, simply of resources.
also not reaching the required total in a test is not a loss.
Which is also irrelevant to the relevance of the D/L table
What are England doing smashing Faulkner around? Clarke will take him off and not give them the opportunity to score the winning runs off him.
85/1 off 18, D/L par 64/1 can't believe England are actually going for this!
What a load of shit Shane Warne has talked today.
Looking good for 4-0 now, but a couple of wickets and we'll drop anchor and settle for 3-0.
Been a pretty underwhelming series all told.
To stay awake until kp fireworks time, or to go to bed?
Been a pretty underwhelming series all told.
Who cares if we win 4-0 (or even 3-0)? If you think the way we beat the Aussies is a problem you weren't an England fan in the late 80s and 90s.
Well they ar eup on the DL method which seems a useful rule of thumb for this
Fair dos re trott I forgot he was a decent ODI player.
KP time...

I most certainly was an England supporter back then. This is the third series win on the bounce, we clearly have better players and we seem to have had the rub of the majority of the marginal decisions. And still we've made a bit of a meal of it.
Yes the only victory england have had is they won
Performance wise they have been fairly poor and rescued by the bowlers and weak Aussie batting
I think the Aussies will feel mor e positive than England as they would, weather permitting, have won 2 and only lost one marginally due to a "cheating" Broad
England won but the aussies performed better than expected and england not as well as expected
Yes the only victory england have had is they won
Which is sort of the point!
Though you're wrong - we've really wound up the Aussies too, which has to be a victory in itself!
Whatever - its exciting as long as KP stays around or the Aussies get 2-3 quick wickets! Hopefully the former!! Time for a beer and settle down to watch.....
...and a review!!! WTF was that about?????
oh dear more insanity
Dirty cheats, claiming that! Send them home crying!

The light's a bit gloomy just over the Moat, but looking OK to play through to close...
Geoffrey Boycott, Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special
"I know there's emotion and passion but that was a shocker. That was missing by miles. If your dad was umpiring he couldn't have given you that wicket."
Pietersen feeling in the mood now
Fastest 50 in ashes history
He really is a bit special when he wants to be, isn't he? What a batsman.
By some metrics, he's amongst the all-time greats 😉
*Looks out of window*
Not that dark at the moment. Hoping the umps don't reach for the light meters...
