My 5 and 6 year old boys want Furbies for Christmas, is that normal? I'm trying to convince them that there are better options than talking soft toys but they seem insistent.

Has anyone else got boys who like such things?

Fret not! Sounds like a reasonable idea, a bit pet like but without the biting and pooing, plus they will interact using the toys.

At that age it's pretty good, I've bought endless amounts of crap over the years..

I just asked Mrs Crikey have we had one, and I think we only had to deal with it for a short period of time 12 years ago. The owner of said beast is now reading 17th Century poetry at a seat of Higher Education, so maybe there's something to be said for the furry little things...
